"Almost half of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions come from energy we use every day - at home and when we travel. By saving energy we can all help fight climate change." Source - Energy Saving Trust
So you’ve insulated your loft, and fitted double glazing, but you really want to save MORE money and yes do your bit for the environment. There are two easy ways to achieve this with your heating system:
- Replace your existing central heating boiler with a modern high efficiency boiler.
- Upgrade your existing central heating controls - programmer, room thermostat, combined programmable room thermostat, cylinder thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs).
After this you can look for more advanced solutions: - Air source heat pumps – collecting domestic waste warm air/energy and using it to heat water
- Biofuel – highly efficient pellet burners can be used to heat your home and domestic water.
- Linked systems – using a “Neutralizer” to combine different heating technologies therefore taking best advantage of both cost and environmental savings.
- Solar energy – using the suns rays to heat water
